Adam Curtain – Sculptures & Snakes

Love International’s new Floor Series launches with a 12″ from London’s Adam Curtain and the lead cut ‘Sculptures & Snakes’ has already been running furiously all summer. It’s a slinky and breaksy roller whose vocal hook – «I’m afraid of sculptures» – begs the question: what kind of statue did the damage? Whatever the fear, the track works a treat on the floor, balancing sharp snares with a sub that really is all-encompassing and surrounds you in a way that’s worth hearing on a good system. The rest of the EP sits in Curtain’s usual zone between electro, garage and acid, while Klasse Wrecks’ Mr. Ho crunches the original into a tough, fractal stomp. A playful but deadly serious opener for the new series.
