Anatolian Weapons / The Spy – DDS10

Greek producer Anatolian Weapons and Romanian artist The Spy meet on Dalmata Daniel’s split series, each bringing a distinct shadow to the floor. Anatolian Weapons’ side is locked into hypnotic propulsion – ‘Trapped’ drives with heavy EBM percussion and a gut-punch bass, while ‘Further Spiralling Down’ twists tighter with electro-laced claps and grinding low end. ‘Apathy Through Shock’ is the most punishing, its bleak melody carried over pounding drums. The Spy counters with raw electro cut through post-punk grit – ‘Same Blur’ crackles with wiry synths and sharp kicks, ‘Falling’ pairs his vocals with bittersweet new wave swing, and ‘Pretending’ slides into a haunted, low-slung groove. Together they make a release that bridges ritualistic techno with spectral electro, both producers carving different but equally uncompromising paths.
