Key resident producer Hurdslenk returns to the label with a fresh mini-album of hardened, dizzying techno on double 12″, homing in microscopically on the best texture and nuance that can be wrought from the form. Moods of biochemical doomsday fetishism abound, with ‘Red Code’ and ‘Silo’ especially impressing with vocal flutterings on the top mix resembling remote walkie-talkie chatter – as if to represent long-distance orders barked between armour-plated medics on no-man’s land, or lab security bots attempting to communicate news of the impending escape of a protozoan monster, in panicked fashion. The closing ‘Zentol’ is an equally searing weapon among the tranche, closing the record on a note of tribal momentum and backed by relentless transitional zings.
