Dutch rule-bender Identified Patient returns to Dekmantel with his third EP and again cooks up bass-driven techno and cerebral sound design. Job Veerman always crafts tracks that are abstract yet rhythmically compelling and manage to combine low-end power with eclectic influences and future-facing atmospherics. Opener ‘Light’ layers fuzzy synths, whispered vocals and lurching bass, while ‘Scales’ descends into menacing, filtered synth textures. ‘Internal Pace’ rides fluid, wobbly bass with subtle distortion, and ‘Return’ fuses jungle breaks with serpentine melodies.
