Kage – Meke

Kage is the Japanese word for shadow or shade, which has lent it much cultural resonance, and has caused it to be the inspiration behind the name of many popular characters including Kages from Naruto and Street Fighter. Given the connection between gaming and electronic music, there’s absolutely no doubt in our minds that the artist behind this EP hasn’t also named themselves thus out of mere coincidence. That in mind, the music on this six-track fear-stoker is particularly shady, exploring the more ruinous, textural darkside of minimal and dub techno. Owing to this artist’s creative breadth, machinic movers like ‘Captivity’ are interspersed with ambient zoneouts like ‘North Star’.
