Christian Beetz, aka FRWCTRL, returns to Edits for the Common Man for the first time since his 2017 contribution. He is a master of what he calls Hanseatic Balearic and these two latest cuts are sun-soaked reworks of Austro Funk and Brazilian Balearic house rarities that become new and irresistible gems. Alongside him, Mr Fonk makes his welcome return with two edits that trace disco’s rise and fall. One celebrates the glittering peak of 1978’s dancefloor euphoria while the other dives into the early 80s twilight of Euro disco boogie. Together, they make for something that honours the past without sounding too slavish to it.
