Suicide AFTR 7 – Blanked

Late last year, we got our first taste of Suicide Aftr 7, a collaboration between Barcelona-based New Yorker Neud Photo and London-based maverick Antic. They recently resurfaced on the shadowy Lonewolf label and here deliver a third EP via the freshly minted Hot Playe imprint. Opener ‘Blanked’ is deliciously clandestine, with ultra-moody chords, fizzing electronics and found spoken word samples riding a pulsating tweaked electro beat, while ‘Sole Cellar’ sits somewhere in between the druggy edges of Belgian new beat and earlier «proto-wave» explorations. Over on side B, ‘Fish Fry’ blurs a new beat sensibility with clanging electro beats, while ‘Onion’ adds glistening, shimmering electronic melodies to a retro-futurist electro groove.
