T.V. Babies ‎– Vertical Bacon Sandwich

Those with long memories and an in-depth knowledge of the early UK tech-house scene may be familiar with the work of T.V Babies, a four-man collective that delivered a string of now sought-after singles in the late 1990s. Here Slow-Wave serves up a timely reissue of one of their cult classics: a 1999 double A-side single that first landed on Clip Recordings. Title track ‘Vertical Bacon Sandwich’ cannily combines the infectious beats and heavy sub-bass of the then rising UK garage sound with swirling pads and the kind of spacey electronics then found in more purist tech-house releases. ‘Funkini Situation’ is a funkier and chunkier affair peppered with electronic blips and bleeps and build around tribal-tinged house drums and a genuinely infectious bassline.
