Various ‎– Balearic Shaketown

The artist also known as Noema, David Benjamin, has spent the last 11 years alternating between superb original productions and similarly killer edits, the latter under the Magic Jams alias. Having previously delivered a couple of ‘Caribbean Shakedown’ EPs, he’s now turned his attention to more Balearic dancefloors via a quartet of remixes and re-edits. He begins with a sparkling and life-affirming, synth strings-laden revision of Kate Bush (‘Cloudbusting’) sprinkled with extra glassy-eyed sonic sauce, before successfully whacking a chunky, house-tempo breakbeat under Enya (‘Orinocco Flow’). Benjamin works his magic (sorry) on a dash of mid-80s Roxy Music (the lightly dubbed, funky and groovy ‘The Space Between’), while ‘Rule The World’ is a chugging, throbbing and lightly dubbed-out (and we think slightly pitched down) take on a Tears For Fears end-of-night classic.
