XXX return with a three-LP repress bundle of its much-coveted edit series: XXX333, XXX666 and XXX999. These were originally limited 12″ releases featuring reworked slices of disco, new wave, indie dance and dark disco hiddens, all now collected in a single disc-repant time capsule. There’s 12 high-quality re-edits – from Pete Blaker, Correlations, Dr. Dunks through JMII, Il Est Vilaine, Marvin & Guy and more – justify the guarded nature of the series, since there’s an extra fidelity to the likes of ‘Marvin & Guy’ and ‘Magnifique’ that seem to reflect an appreciation of the best moments in each sampled original; woozy, synth-dewed mystique is the common thread. Well-arrayed versions of each original tune abound, as though each were cut into truly, darkly indulgent squares.
